  • Mount as a network drive. MTPdrive assigns a drive letter to MTP devices, allowing access as if they were a shared network folder. This simplifies browsing and file management without additional software.
  • Support for multiple devices. The tool detects and manages several connected MTP devices at the same time. Each device appears as an independent drive, maintaining organization and structured access.
  • Integration with Windows Explorer. Files and folders from the MTP device are shown directly in File Explorer. No extra steps are required to view or modify content.
  • Accelerated file transfer. MTPdrive optimizes the MTP protocol to improve transfer speed. It reduces waiting times when copying large files or multiple items.
  • Access without system restart. No need to restart the computer after installing MTPdrive. The settings apply immediately, allowing the tool to be used from the first moment.
  • File system compatibility. Supports FAT32, exFAT and NTFS on connected devices. This ensures no limitations when working with different storage formats.
  • Optional read-only mode. Can be activated to prevent accidental modifications on the device. Ideal when only viewing or copying files is required.
  • Connection notifications. MTPdrive alerts when an MTP device connects or disconnects. Provides quick information about the status of the linked hardware.
  • Drive letter customization. The user can manually assign the preferred drive letter to each device. Avoids conflicts with other existing drives on the system.
  • Command line support. Includes advanced options to configure MTPdrive via commands. Allows task automation or integration with scripts.
  • Activity logging. Generates detailed logs of operations performed. Useful for diagnosing problems or analyzing performance.

MTPdrive was developed by a company specialized in connectivity and file transfer solutions. The project started in 2015 as an alternative to improve MTP support on Windows. It is programmed in C++ with specific components for interaction with the operating system. The first stable version was released in 2016, and since then it has received regular updates to maintain compatibility with new devices and Windows versions.
